Kavita Neumannova

Kavita comes from the Czech Republic and has always loved music. She started to learn khol drum in 2008 when she accompanied Jyoshna on her research trip to Rarh and continues till today. Her teacher is Jagaran Mahato, kiirtan expert from Rarh the same teacher who Jyoshna was working with since 2006. Together they learnt the Rarhi kiirtan in the traditional way which is very strenuous i.e. by listening and copying without interruptions or stopping for long periods each day.

Kavita has performed and led workshops on khol drum at festivals and performances with Jyoshna in Brazil, the Philippines, Taiwan, the USA, Portugal, Australia and  New Zealand.

Currently she runs the kindergarten at Sunrise Education Trust or Ananda Bharatii, is mother to Isabel Kamalgiiti and teaches Khol drumming online at the Kiirtan Academy.
